The book title Hunger Games relates obviously to the games and how every year children dies to entertain people on T.V. I really like the story because theres always something that keeps you entertain and makes you want to read more. The way that Katniss tells the story is the best way because she doesn't know whats going to happen so its unpredictable. The romance gives a special thing to the story and makes it more interesting. I recommend the book even though if you had seen the movie, because the book has more details and more things that doesn't appear in the movie. Even though its violent and intense, the things they made to stay alive have some reasons: Love, family, friends etc. The thing that I learned from the book was that you don't know when are you going to have big problems in life, but you will know that your strength to solve them is going to be the people you love. It would very cruel to live in a world or country like Panem so thanks god we live in a normal world. We will se whats going to happen in Catching Fire and how the characters continue with their lives.  This is one of the best books I had ever read and I cant wait to read the next one. The movie is great, but maybe they could had extended a little bit more by adding

Theres a lot of example of figurative language: similes, metaphors, personification, hyperbole, imagery, etc.
My favorite is: Katniss the girl on fire, a metaphor that appears in the presentation the day before the Hunger Games. When the author uses Imagery the senses are of sight and to hear. For example the birds. "Birds are settling down for the night, singing lullabies to their young. Night creatures emerge. An owl hoots. The faint scent of a skunk cuts through the smoke. The eyes of some animal peer at me from the neighboring tree - a possum maybe - catching the firelight from the Careers' torches." The significance of the figurative language is to make the story more interseted and make you feel that you are in the story and make you imagine the things mentioned in it.

Theres lots of symbols in the world. 2 very important in the Hunger Games are the mocking jay pin and the district 12 sign. The mocking jay, this pin became a sign of rebellion to the Capitol, Katniss thought that it could fed her family months because it was made of gold. It is also a symbol for district 12 since Katniss got it.
The District 12 sign: the hand with the 3 fingers up.  This was used mostly in the funerals.  This signs was used when you were thankful and to show  love or respect to a person or people.  When Rue is death and Katniss covers her in flowers, she says goodbye to her with this sign. All people of district 11  for Katniss

With sacrifice and braveness you can achieve important things. Thats my theme because thats what is reflected on the story , how Katniss showed love for Prim and for her mom to volunteer and to win the Hunger Games. How Peeta showed love for Katniss and never give up on her and won the Hunger Games.  There are several things or dialogues in the story that can describe the theme but I cant choose a specific one. You may tell that this is a book and all the characters, setting, point of view, etc. are made up so at the end theres going to be a happy ending, but this is an example of life. How to fight for something you want or you love, how to face problems

The story takes place in a country called Panem, here is where Katniss and her familiy lives, as well as Peeta. There are 13 districts and only 12 participate on the Hunger Games. District 12 mayor activity is coal mining but it is very poor.  The Capitol its totally different, people in there has a different accent and dresses different, they are rich and wealthy. The setting contributes to the work because its in a future time and know they have new things that help the story be more interesting. If it would have being at this time or a different time the story would be boring, because they wouldn't have the technology for the awesome battle field that they have and where most of the important things happen.  The scene shifts are important because if you miss one detail you may don't understand whats happening on the next scenes.

The first real problem of the story starts when the elections of district 12 for the Hunger games are coming and theres no way out of them.  The big problem is that Prim, the little sister of Katniss is elected and the only way to avoid that is by volunteering yourself. Katniss loves her sister and she wont let her go to the Hunger games, so she volunteers herself instead of Prim.  The other election is Peeta. At the end, district 12 elected people are Katniss and Peeta and they will go through a lot of things together to save their lives. All of these events connects to the main one which is the Hunger Games .
There are 13 districts in total, two people per district, but district 1

There are 3 books in this Saga. The narrator of the first book is Katniss. She tells the story in first person. When you start reading the book Katniss is describing  when she is waking up. Then she talks about her sister Prim and you can tell the she is the principle character and also the narrator. Even though Katniss doesn't know the feelings and thoughts about every character I like she being the narrator because you don't know what is going to happen until it happens.  Also when something happens to another character for example,  Peeta ,you know the feelings of Katniss and can infer things that she will. I wouldn't change Katniss as the narrator of the story. She is the main character and what happens to her will affect the story.

There are several characters in the book:
Lets start with Katniss Everdeen, she is the protagonist of the story. She is 16 years old, she has long brown dark  hair and green eyes. She lives in district 12, with her mom and her young sister, Primrose.
Prim is 12 years old and she is blonde with blue eyes.
Peeta Mellark is a boy from district 12.  He is quiet and has blond hair with brown eyes.
Gale Hawthorne is 18 years old, and he lives also in district 12. He has a very close relationship with Katniss. He is her best friend.  He is tall, muscular, and has brown hair.
Haymitch Abernathy won the 50th Hunger Games, and he is some kind of coach for Katniss and Peeta. He is an old man, not that old but he might be between 35-50.
Those are some of the main characters that you can find in the book of the Hunger Games.
